Mangaluru, July 4: In a significant development in the murder case of Hindu activist and BJP Yuva Morcha member Praveen Nettaru, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another accused who was reportedly hiding abroad.

The accused, Abdul Rahiman, was arrested by NIA officers upon his arrival at Kannur International Airport in Kerala from Qatar on Friday. He had been evading arrest by taking shelter in Qatar after several other accused in the case were apprehended.

In response to his continued absconding, the NIA had earlier announced a reward for information leading to the capture of Abdul Rahiman and five others.

So far, the NIA has filed a charge sheet against a total of 28 individuals, including Abdul Rahiman, in connection with the case. According to the agency’s findings, the murder was carried out as part of a conspiracy orchestrated under the direction of senior leaders of the banned organisation Popular Front of India (PFI).

Praveen Nettaru was brutally hacked to death on July 26, 2022, in Bellare village of Sullia taluk, sparking widespread outrage and protests across the region.
