Washington, Jul 7: The ongoing feud between US President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk intensified on Sunday, with Trump launching a scathing attack on Musk for forming a new political outfit called the "America Party".
Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump accused Musk of going ‘off the rails’ and becoming a ‘train wreck’, warning that third parties in the US have historically failed. “He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States,” Trump wrote, adding that such ventures only cause ‘complete and total disruption and chaos’.

Speaking to reporters earlier, Trump dismissed Musk’s political move as “ridiculous” and a distraction from the country’s long-established two-party system.
The former President also blasted Musk for opposing his newly signed bill, which eliminates the Electric Vehicle (EV) mandate. “It is a Great Bill… Elon gave me his total and unquestioned endorsement, and I was surprised when he opposed this,” Trump said.
Adding fuel to the fire, Trump revealed Musk had earlier recommended a “blue-blooded Democrat” to head NASA — a suggestion Trump ultimately rejected. He claimed Musk may not have known his friend’s political affiliation.
Musk, in his response on X (formerly Twitter), mocked Trump’s remarks by saying he had “never heard” of Truth Social. In a pointed post, he questioned the purpose of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which he briefly led, saying, “What the heck was the point… if Trump is just going to increase the debt by $5 trillion?”
Musk had announced the launch of the “America Party” on Saturday, vowing to challenge Republican lawmakers who supported Trump’s controversial bill in next year’s midterm elections.
