Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 7: To promote financial awareness and to ignite young minds with the power of smart money management, a Financial Literacy Quiz competition was conducted by Lourdes Central School on July 5 in Bejai Church Hall in proud collaboration with Zerodha Varsity INDIA'S - Premier - Finance Quiz for the students of classes VII to IX.

The programme commenced with a prayer song. Himani and Adithi of class XI welcomed the dignitaries: Principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, vice principal Anitha Thomas, Zerodha Varsity INDIA'S - Premier - Finance Quiz team members Anagha, Flavia D’Cunha and Alwin Lobo.

The MC introduced the quizmaster Anagha, the content and culture head at QShala. With over 7 years of experience as a quizmaster and educator, she has conducted 100+ quizzes, led 150+ corporate quizzes and hosted 100+ workplace culture engagements. Her expertise spans 3000+ students across India through workshops and quizzes. Some of her most notable contributions include the Mysore Dasara Quiz 2019, Swacch quiz 2018 and 2019 and the Agastya Science Quiz 2018.

Principal Father Johnson L Sequiera in his message emphasized the importance of financial education in the modern world and encouraged them to participate actively in the quiz.

The event aimed to enrich students understanding of Indian banking, investment principles, economic reforms, taxation, and core financial literacy. The competition consisted of two dynamic rounds, including general finance awareness, banking basics, investment insights, and a thrilling rapid-fire round.

The quiz was expertly conducted under the guidance of the quiz master Anagha, who ensured that the competition remained engaging and fair. The first round of the quiz began with a total of 20 questions. The quiz saw enthusiastic participation from all groups, each displaying sharp intellect, quick thinking and a keen grasp of financial concepts. The questions challenged the students just not to recall facts but also to apply their knowledge to real- life financial situations. It was then followed by evaluation of answer scripts and announcing the names of the six finalist groups.

There were four rounds in the finale: Potpourri with six questions, Image Reveal with four questions, Connect with four questions and the well anticipated Hotspot Buzzer round with four questions.

One of the highlights of the quiz was the focus on compounding—a concept where small, consistent investments grow significantly over time. This powerful principle was cleverly interwoven into the quiz, helping students connect their academic knowledge to long-term financial wisdom. As discussed during the quiz: ‘Whether it's your studies or your savings, small efforts compounded over time create extraordinary results.’
