Chennai, Jul 7: In a biting political satire, the ruling DMK on Monday took a swipe at AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, mocking his alleged inaction through a humorous Instagram post captioned “Eat 5 Star, Do Nothing”, coinciding with World Chocolate Day.
Shared by DMK IT Wing’s official handle (@dmkitwing), the post featured a caricature resembling Palaniswami alongside a bar of 5 Star chocolate — playing on the popular ad tagline to underline what they claim is his passivity on key state issues.

The post accused the AIADMK chief of failing to act on several pressing matters, including the ban on NEET, allocation of education funds, Tamil Nadu’s representation in democratic research, the Keeladi excavations, and support for Tamil language development.
The satirical post ended with the line: “Happy Chocolate Day, Mr Palaniswami”, sharpening the political jibe.
The online attack came just days after Palaniswami launched AIADMK’s election campaign logo titled ‘Makkalai Kaappom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom’ (Let’s Protect the People, Let’s Redeem Tamil Nadu). He had called for unity among “like-minded” parties to oust the ruling DMK in the 2026 Assembly elections, while reiterating openness to alliances, including with actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), despite the latter ruling out ties with the BJP.
Responding to Vijay’s stance, Palaniswami had said, “That is his decision… each party will criticise the other… this is part of building a base.”
The AIADMK's first phase of the campaign will kick off from Coimbatore on July 7, covering eight districts, with a new campaign song and logo released by deputy general secretary K P Munusamy to energise party workers.
While DMK’s satire drew chuckles on social media, it also set the tone for what is shaping up to be a fierce digital and ground-level political battle ahead of the 2026 elections.
