Gaza crisis deepens: Doctors use phone lights at Al-Aqsa Hospital amid fuel shortage

Daijiworld Media Network - Gaza

Gaza, Jul 8: In a grim sign of the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, doctors at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital are reportedly treating patients under mobile phone lights as fuel supplies run critically low, threatening to shut down life-saving medical services.

Videos and eyewitness accounts reveal medical staff performing emergency procedures in near-total darkness, relying solely on phone flashlights due to the unavailability of electricity and fuel. The World Health Organization and other humanitarian agencies have warned that Gaza’s already devastated health infrastructure is on the verge of collapse.

Hospitals in the besieged enclave have been repeatedly targeted or forced to close due to airstrikes, power outages, and a blockade that has strangled the supply of essential goods, including fuel needed to run generators.

Human rights organisations and medical personnel are calling for urgent international intervention to restore fuel and medical supplies to prevent a catastrophic loss of life.
