Mangaluru, Jul 9: In connection with the theft of a locker containing Rs 3.30 lac cash from a nutrition product store in Kodialbail, Kadri police have arrested two accused.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Yashwanth Naik (19), originally from Kadur, Chikkamagaluru, currently residing in Mallikatte, and Niroop alias Shravan (19), a resident of Labour Colony, Shaktinagar.

Yashwanth was working as a daytime security staff at the store, while Shravan, who previously worked as an employee at the same establishment, had resigned some time ago.

On the night of June 28, store staff placed Rs 3,33,030, the day's business collection, inside a locker and locked up the shop. However, on the morning of June 30, they found the shop’s shutter lock opened. Upon inspection, they discovered the locker was missing. A complaint was promptly filed at Kadri police station.

It is reported that a few days before the incident, the key to the shop’s shutter lock had gone missing. Investigators suspect the same key was used in the theft. Based on investigation, police grew suspicious of the two accused and upon questioning, both confessed to the crime.

Police have recovered the stolen locker, the cash, and the motorcycle used in the crime from the accused.
