Lions Club Udyavara Sunshine holds installation ceremony for 2025-26

Udupi, Jul 9: The installation ceremony of the new office-bearers of Lions Club Udyavara Sunshine for the year 2025-26 was held at Udupi Town Hall. Lion Gerald Pereira took charge as the new president along with his team of office-bearers.

Lion Hariprasad Rai, the second vice district governor, officiated the installation of the new team and extended his best wishes. Prashanth Jattanna, director of the Karnataka State Christian Development Corporation, in his address, emphasised the importance of social service along with initiatives promoting peace and communal harmony.

Chief guest Dr Sheikh Waheed Dawood, general secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Minority Committee, appreciated the various community welfare activities undertaken by Lions Club Udyavara Sunshine.

On the occasion, meritorious students who scored high marks in SSLC and PUC examinations were felicitated with honorary awards. A financial aid of Rs 1 lac was also handed over to support the medical treatment of two ailing individuals.

The event was graced by region chairperson Lion Girish Rao, Zone chairperson Lion Valerian Noronha, president Lion Gerald Pereira, treasurer Lion Alwin D’Souza, Lion Prem Menezes, and Lion Anil Menezes.

Outgoing president Ronald Rebello delivered the welcome address, while secretary Lion Edwin Lewis proposed the vote of thanks. The program was compered by Lion Michael D’Souza and Lion Steevan Colaco.
