Kasargod, Jul 11: “Leadership qualities in students help shape them into responsible citizens of the nation. It enables them to understand the procedures and responsibilities of a democratic system. Beyond that, they also learn the value of service to others and to society,” said Sr Pratibha, headmistress of St Bartholomew Aided Senior Basic School, Bela. She was speaking at the inauguration of the school parliament.

Sr Pratibha congratulated the winners of the school parliament election and thanked all students who actively participated in the electoral process.

The election process included the notification by the school election commission, release of the voter list, filing of nominations, scrutiny, withdrawal, publication of the final list of candidates, campaigning, voting, and declaration of results.

Staveno Sheldon D’Souza was elected as the School People Leader (SPL), while Ria Viola was elected as the second SPL. Sr Pratibha served as the election commissioner. Teachers Shanthi Monteiro, Reshma, Sharada, Shanthi D’Souza, Sr Ashwini, Sr Sunita, and Precilla assisted in conducting the election.
