Patna, Jul 12: In a fresh incident of violence in Bihar’s capital, a grocery shop owner was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Ramkrishna Nagar locality of Patna on Friday evening, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Vikram Jha. According to officials, police reached the spot immediately and rushed him to the nearest hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Speaking to the media, Patna East SP Parichay Kumar said, “The exact motive behind the killing is still unclear. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to trace the culprit.”

The body has been sent for post-mortem, and forensic teams have been deployed to gather evidence from the crime scene.

This is the third high-profile murder in the city within ten days. On July 10, a 50-year-old man involved in sand mining was gunned down outside his residence in Ranitalab, while top industrialist Gopal Khemka was shot dead in the state capital on July 4.

The back-to-back killings have triggered concerns over rising crime in Patna, prompting demands for increased police vigilance and swift action.
