Roing, Jul 12: A curfew has been imposed in Roing town, Lower Dibang Valley, Arunachal Pradesh, following the lynching of a teenager accused of sexually assaulting minor girls. The situation remains tense but is reportedly under control, according to police sources.
Four companies of additional security forces have been deployed in the town to manage the volatile situation. Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung is in continuous communication with administration and police officials. Police sources also indicated that school authorities would be included in the ongoing investigation.

The incident occurred on Friday when an enraged mob dragged a teenage migrant worker from Assam out of the Roing police station and beat him to death. The accused, who worked in Roing, was alleged to have exploited lax security at the Mount Carmel School hostel, entering late in the evenings to molest and rape girls aged between six and eight.
The shocking allegations surfaced after parents took their daughters to the hospital due to complaints of abdominal pain. A complaint was filed by one of the parents, leading to a First Information Report (FIR) being registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused was arrested on Thursday night.
As news of the alleged victims, believed to be students of the Mount Carmel School's hostel, spread and their numbers grew, a large mob gathered at the Roing police station. They forcibly removed the accused from custody and subjected him to a fatal beating.
By the time additional police personnel and central forces arrived to quell the situation, the teenager had already succumbed to his injuries. The post-mortem report confirms the incident took place on Friday afternoon.
