Mysuru, July 13: Renowned journalist and founder editor of Star of Mysore and Mysore Mitra, K B Ganapathy passed away due to a heart attack on Sunday morning at the age of 85. He breathed his last at Shanthaveri Gopalagowda Hospital, Mysuru.
Last rites will be conducted at 4 pm at the crematorium at the foot of Chamundi Hills, with arrangements for the public to pay their respects at his residence in K C Badawane from 12 noon onwards.

A stalwart in the media world, Ganapathy mentored numerous budding journalists and made an indelible mark on regional journalism. He held a diploma in journalism from Bombay and authored a book titled Life and Times. He was honoured with an honorary doctorate from the University of Mysore for his contributions.
Ganapathy also had a diverse career practicing law in Bengaluru (1961–1965), serving as executive director of an ad agency in Pune (1970), and as vice president of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mysuru.
The Karnataka Working Journalists’ Association and the Mysore District Journalists’ Association have expressed deep sorrow over his demise, remembering him as a visionary and guiding light in Karnataka’s journalistic sphere.
