Nuh, Jul 14: Authorities in Haryana's Nuh district have imposed stringent restrictions and deployed heavy security ahead of the Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra scheduled for Monday, in an effort to maintain communal harmony and public safety.

District Magistrate Vishram Kumar Meena issued an order under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023, prohibiting the carrying of weapons—including licensed firearms, swords, rods, knives, and chains—during the yatra. Only the sheathed kirpan worn by Sikhs has been exempted.

The use of DJs, loudspeakers or any sound equipment broadcasting provocative or religiously sensitive content has also been banned. In a related move, all meat shops along the yatra route have been ordered shut until July 24, starting Sunday.

Mobile internet, bulk SMS, and dongle services (excluding voice calls) have been suspended in the district from 9 pm on July 13 to 9 pm on July 14 to curb the spread of misinformation.

Drone surveillance and heightened monitoring of social media platforms have also been activated. Authorities said cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi has been barred from attending the yatra and his social media accounts have been deactivated.

In a precautionary move, petrol and diesel sales in open containers have been restricted from 6 am to 12 noon on Monday.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar reviewed the arrangements and urged citizens to remain vigilant against rumours. He said a special team would monitor social media round the clock to prevent incitement and maintain law and order.

About 2,500 police personnel will be on duty during the yatra. Schools and colleges—both government and private—will remain closed in the district on Monday.

Security has been further bolstered with 14 deputy superintendents of police, 28 checkpoints with videography, mounted police, bomb squads, sniffer dogs, four drones, 21 video surveillance cameras, and commando teams stationed at key locations.

The administration has called for public cooperation to ensure the yatra passes off peacefully.
