Mangaluru, Jul 14: St Theresa’s School, Bendur, reverently celebrated the Bethany Foundation Day on July 14, marking the 105th year since the founding of the congregation of the sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany. The day was observed with devotion, gratitude, and a spirit of belonging.
The celebration commenced with a solemn Eucharistic celebration at St Sebastian’s Church, attended by all Catholic students from pre-KG to std X, along with the staff.
The holy Mass was officiated by Fr Royston Madtha, SJ, who led the gathering in worship and thanksgiving for god’s abundant blessings. In his inspiring homily, Fr Royston emphasised the significance of a life rooted in prayer, gratitude, and mission. He reminded the congregation that every gift from life to learning is a cause to thank and glorify God.

The liturgy, meaningfully animated by the students and teachers, radiated the Bethany spirit ‘Let Your Light Shine.’ Prayerful participation, uplifting hymns, and a deep sense of reverence marked the Eucharistic celebration. It was a grace-filled moment to recall the vision of the founder, Servant of God RFC. Mascarenhas, and to recommit to a life of service and love.
The kindergarten block also celebrated the occasion in their unique and vibrant way. The little ones presented a delightful stage programme featuring songs and dances, reflecting their love for Bethany and the joyful spirit of the day.
Adding to the significance of the day, a few staff and student representatives of St Theresa’s School visited the Bethany Generalate to greet the superior general and the general councillors. Their warm and respectful presence added a personal touch to the day’s observance, symbolising the close bond between the institution and the founding community. The visit was a meaningful gesture of gratitude and unity with the Bethany family at the heart of the Congregation.
Indeed, the foundation day celebrations at St Theresa’s were a beautiful blend of prayer, joy, and togetherness, renewing the commitment of the entire school community to the mission of forming young minds for god’s greater glory.
