Alirajpur, Jul 17: Madhya Pradesh police have booked Pushpraj Singh, son of Congress MLA Sena Patel, for attempted murder after CCTV footage showed him trying to mow down two policemen with an SUV in Alirajpur district earlier this week.
The chilling video, recorded near the Alirajpur bus stand, captured the moment Singh accelerated his speeding SUV—without a registration plate—towards the constables who had signalled him to stop. The policemen narrowly escaped being run over, but the vehicle rammed into an electric pole. One constable, Rakesh Gujaria, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at the district hospital.

Identified through the injured constables' testimonies, Singh is currently absconding. Police have launched a manhunt and formed a special team led by a DSP-rank officer to nab the accused.
Superintendent of Police Rajesh Vyas said the accused acted deliberately and ignored police signals, opting instead to endanger lives. “We have registered a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and are making all efforts to arrest him,” he said.
The incident has sparked political tension, with the accused’s father, Mahesh Patel, alleging that the FIR was filed under political pressure. “It was a minor accident, but the police have blown it out of proportion. We will approach the High Court,” he said at a press conference.
MLA Sena Patel also backed her son, calling the police action a “political conspiracy” and vowing to raise the issue in the Assembly.
Despite the backlash, the police remain firm, citing the damning video evidence that clearly shows Singh recklessly driving toward the constables before crashing and fleeing the scene.
