Puttur Municipality Adjudged Best in Drinking Water Supply, Management

Puttur, Jan 31: Puttur municipality has bagged first place in the state under drinking water supply and management.  Municipal president, Kamala Anand, and chief officer, Shivalinga Kondadakuli, will receive the award from the urban development and local administrations department minister on February 1, at a function to be held at Hotel Lalit Ashok, Bangalore. This was stated by Jeevandhar Jain, chairman of municipal standing committee.

The municipality has achieved this distinction based on its performance during the period of former president, Rajesh Bannur, and current incumbent, Kamala Anand.  Performances of all the local administrations in the state were evaluated for the period from 2008 to 2011 before deciding the award. The municipality was adjudged the best, taking into consideration that a total 7,009 new water connections were provided during the above period. Jeevandhar Jain was the chairman of the standing committee during this entire period, it is gathered.
