Mangaluru, July 17: Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS) will stage the award-winning Konkani drama Pati Polenaka as part of its 82nd annual day celebrations on Sunday, September 28, at Don Bosco Hall, Mangaluru.
The play, penned by late renowned playwright MickMax, had earlier won first place at a state-level Konkani playwriting competition. It will be directed by senior theatre personality Jerome Moras, with Loy Rego Bendur as assistant director.

The cast includes Loy Rego, Cletus Lobo, Anil D'Cunha, Prakash Fronteiro, Neilesh Rasquinha, Mable Menezes, Jyothi D’Souza, and Maxim D’Souza. Lucy Mascarenhas will serve as prompter, and Keith Furtado will provide musical support.
KNS president Fr Rocky D’Cunha OFM Cap expressed pride in the Sabha’s continued commitment to Konkani theatre. “KNS has always given top priority to drama, and this tradition continues. We are proud to stage a play by MickMax, a celebrated playwright. I congratulate the director and the entire team and wish them success. I am confident the audience will enjoy the performance in a packed hall,” he said.
Veteran actor and director Adolphus Cutinha, speaking at the event, said, “It is heartening that KNS has selected a drama by MickMax, one of the greatest contributors to Konkani literature and theatre. His legacy as a writer, lyricist, journalist, and director is unmatched. We are fortunate to have had such a personality in our community.”
Director Jerome Moras, who received the first copy of the script from Fr Rocky, introduced the cast and said, “It’s a single-scene play and is categorised as a short drama. Dolla and I have performed this in the past and are well-versed in its appeal. I seek the full support of our audience and the Sabha.”
Assistant director Loy Rego added, “We have a powerful script with an element of suspense. I believe that with the dedication of our entire team, we will entertain the audience.”
Actor Anil D'Cunha also expressed happiness at being selected for the cast.
KNS vice president Floyd D’Mello welcomed the gathering, and general secretary Pamela Santos proposed the vote of thanks, with special mention of Helen Joyce D’Souza, wife of MickMax, their daughter Karishma D’Souza, and sister Juliet Emelia Moras. Raymond D’Cunha compered the event.
