Udupi, Jul 19: In a sensational allegation, former DySP Anupama Shenoy has accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of orchestrating the RCB victory celebration stampede in Bengaluru as part of a larger conspiracy to malign senior IPS officer Dayananda and protect vested interests.
Addressing a press conference in Udupi on Friday, Shenoy took strong exception to the status report submitted by the state government to the High Court of Karnataka. She alleged that the report wrongfully implicates cricketer Virat Kohli in the tragic incident that occurred outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the RCB victory celebration.

Criticising the report, Shenoy said, “The government claims that a stampede occurred because over 16 lac people viewed a video posted by Virat Kohli on social media. As per the report, the first RCB tweet garnered 16 lac views, the second 7.6 lac views, and the third 17 lac views. But can mere views translate into physical presence at an event?”
She questioned the rationale behind the government’s report, asking whether CM Siddaramaiah had verified if all those who viewed the posts had actually arrived at the venue. “Did they collect data from the concerned social media platforms? Or are they simply trying to frame someone popular to divert attention from administrative lapses?” she questioned.
Shenoy further claimed that a smuggling mafia active in Bengaluru is behind the conspiracy. “These elements, in collaboration with miscreants from K G Halli and D J Halli, orchestrated the stampede to sabotage the reputation of IPS officer Dayanand, who is being considered for the post of DGP and IGP,” she alleged.
She revealed that she has already written a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Bangalore Urban, Jagadish—who is heading the magisterial inquiry into the suspension of five police officers—detailing these conspiratorial elements.
Calling for immediate withdrawal of the government's report and a public apology to cricketer Virat Kohli and RCB fans, Shenoy urged Kohli’s legal team to request a copy of her letter from the District Commissioner. “If needed, they can contact me directly. I am confident that my letter will help in clearing Virat Kohli’s name from this politically motivated allegation,” she affirmed.
The former DySP’s bold remarks have stirred political waters, raising questions about the motivations behind the government's investigation and the real reasons behind the stampede that marred the otherwise jubilant celebration.
