Tehran, Jul 20: Iran has successfully replaced several air defence systems that were damaged during last month’s intense conflict with Israel, according to Iran’s Defah Press, quoting senior military official Mahmoud Mousavi.
Mousavi, who serves as deputy for operations in the Iranian regular army, confirmed that while Israeli air raids had inflicted damage on Iran’s air defence capabilities, swift measures were taken to restore security in Iranian airspace using domestic resources.
“Some of our air defences were indeed damaged—this is not something we can deny. However, our teams quickly deployed replacement systems from pre-positioned reserves, all built using domestic technology,” Mousavi was quoted as saying.
During the June confrontation, Israel reportedly held temporary air superiority over Iran, launching targeted strikes that crippled parts of the Iranian air defence infrastructure. Iran responded by launching multiple waves of missile and drone attacks deep into Israeli territory.
Iran’s current air defence apparatus includes the indigenously developed long-range Bavar-373 system and Russian-supplied S-300 platforms. While the country had previously showcased Russian-made air defence systems following Israeli strikes on missile facilities in October, the latest report made no mention of acquiring foreign equipment in the aftermath of the June clashes.
Military analysts believe the swift restoration of Iran’s air defence network underscores Tehran’s growing emphasis on self-reliance and rapid response capabilities amid rising regional tensions.
