Kundapur, Jul 21: Mother Teresa’s PU College successfully conducted an informative and impactful awareness drive in collaboration with the Shankaranarayana and Amasebail police department focusing on anti-drug awareness, cyber and road safety drawing the participation over 450 students including the teaching fraternity of PUC and High school section.
The programme commenced with the solemn prayer by Varsha Alse and team, grade IX featuring Tabla master Dhanush, I Sc and Flutist Pannaga, grade VIII. Sanjana, II Sc C, brought grace and elegance to the programme through her welcome dance.
The presence of three esteemed police officers, Nasir Hussain, Police sub inspector (L&O), Jayaram D Gowda, police circle inspector, Kundapur circle, Shambhulingayya M E, police sub inspector (LO), Shankaranarayana police station added significance to the occasion. The event was also graced by the presence of Management Renita Lobo, Shamitha Rao, Jaison Lewis, principal Mother Teresa’s PU College, Geeta, vice principal, Mamatha Poojari, headmistress Mother Teresa Memorial School and other members of the police department Ajith Kumar, Puneeth Shetty, Shashidhara Shetty and Kishan were present for the programme.
The three guest speakers addressed the students with insightful talks on the dangers of drug abuse, safe practices in the digital space such as the usage of mobile phones and social media. Moreover, their engaging presentation included real-life incidents, safety tips, precautionary steps, certain guidelines of law pertaining to POCSO ACT (2012) et al left a productive and lasting impact on the audience.
While addressing the students, Jayarama D Gowda ignited the spirit of responsibility among students and urged the students to reflect on their actions which make their institution, parents and locality proud.
Varshini, college president and Pavan, college vice-president led students in an oath to ‘say no to drugs’ adding an impactful close to the session.
The programme was well compered by Vaishali Shetty, department of Kannada and concluded by Alita D’Sa, director - cultural and linguistic development with the vote of thanks.
