Udupi, Jul 23: On the occasion of the feast of Mother of Perpetual succour Pangla Parish of Udupi diocese has the unique tradition of celebrating this special feast in grandeur. It began with the Holy Eucharistic Mass in the morning of July 20, at St John the Evangelist Church, Pangla, Shankerpura and a full-fledged cultural event was held in the evening. The cultural event is organized by Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) every year. This year too they organized this cultural event full of entertainment.
The event titled 'Moriye Sanghim Ek Sanz', began with a prayer by the choir group of the parish, followed by a warm welcome accorded by the president of ICYM, Jeevan Pereira to the honourable guests present at the venue namely, Fr Dr Prakash Anil Castelino, parish priest; Fr Rolwyn Fernandes, assistant parish priest; Fr Jessil Cutinho, assistant parish priest; John Martis, vice president pastoral council; Gabriel Martis, secretary; Joseph Castelino, co-ordinator 20 commissions.




























































































The cultural event commenced with a prayer song by little angels of (Sodality of Mary) followed by encouraging and inspiring talk by John Martis. Speaking on the occasion he highlighted how important it is to exhibit our talents, especially the little kids which lays a firm platform for their future.
The Pangla parish has also the tradition of honouring the students of their Parish who excelled academically every year. This year to the students who excelled and bagged distinction in SSLC and PUC were honoured by the guests on dais. Also the students of Christian Catechism who bagged top ranks too were honoured on the occasion.
This was followed by mesmerizing entertaining events by various associations starting with Legion of Mary, Traditional Gumta singing by senior citizens of the parish, a mesmerizing dance performance by Ladies Association, a special dance by Catholic Sabha Members followed by a hilarious skit by St Vincent De Paul society, a beautiful dance to Bollywood tunes by YCS members and followed by ICYM members.
Both the assistant parish priest Fr Rolywin Fernandes and Fr Prakash Anil Castelino spoke on the occasion and requested the parents to keep a watch on their children. Today’s children are totally engaged in mobile and other social medial Apps, while there are good advantages in using them but equally, they are very harmful if the parents do not guide them properly and keep regular control. If once a child is lost, they will never get it back such is the situation are arisen today so children too must be very careful what they do with the modern facilities and the parents are too responsible for their activities.
Recently a field activity was held under the parish called GadyantKhell (play in the paddy field) and loads of games were held on the occasion. Hence, the winners of those games were honoured on the stage during the cultural event.
Prior to conclusion, the Kalaradhan (a cultural association of the parish) presented their poetry and singing sessions.
On the occasion, three personalities were recognised and honoured, namely advocate Petricia Dias, advocate Rayan Fernandes and agriculturist Joseph Lobo for their achievements in their fields as excellent lawyers and farming.
The programme was compered by Jenisha D’Souza and Aston D’Mello.
The event was concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by YCS president Glenita D’Souza and the entire 'Moriye Sangim Sanz', a total entertaining event was emceed by Princia Noronha.
