Mangaluru: Awareness talk on drug addiction held at Srinivas University

Mangaluru, Jul 23: Drug abuse is one of the most pressing challenges faced by society today, especially among the younger generation. To address this critical issue and promote awareness, the Institute of Port, Shipping and Logistics Management organized an awareness talk on July 19 for first-year students. The session was led by Lediya Lobo, an experienced professional and administrator at the Link De-Addiction Centre, known for her contributions to rehabilitation and mental health services. The program was conducted in the presence of Prof Souparnika, HoD, and Dr Venkatesh S Amin, dean of the institute.

Objectives of the awareness talk

• To educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse on physical and mental health.
• To create awareness about the causes, signs, and consequences of substance abuse.
• To promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among students.
• To inform students about available support systems and de-addiction services.
• To encourage students to make informed and responsible life choices.
