Mangaluru: Mount Carmel's little stars light up Grandparents’ Day

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 27: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, celebrated Grandparents' Day on July 26, with immense joy and warmth. The event was beautifully organised by the Nursery and Kindergarten children to honour and appreciate the presence and love of grandparents in their lives.

The celebration began with a soulful prayer service seeking blessings for all grandparents. Pranvi of UKG gave a fitting tribute to the slain martyrs of the Kargil war, followed by a respectful minute of silence observed by the gathering.

A delightful multilingual welcome and introduction of the chief guest, Dr Nelly Nazareth, ophthalmologist, was confidently delivered by the young students. The chief guest was warmly welcomed with a potted plant, symbolising growth and warmth, presented by the principal as a token of appreciation.

The highlight of the event was a series of vibrant, multilingual dances performed by the tiny tots. An apt honour was paid to the day’s celebrities “Grandparents” through a skit entitled “A journey of love from cradle to heart”, which was truly nostalgic.

In her address, Dr Nelly Nazareth applauded the talent of the young performers and the dedication of the school management and the teachers. She urged grandparents to be a source of love, wisdom and strength to their grandchildren, and to be their role models.

Principal Sr Melissa, overjoyed by the overwhelming presence of grandparents, expressed the school’s appreciation and shared how grandchildren bring light and warmth into homes. She encouraged grandparents to stay joyful and youthful by nurturing this special bond.

With endearing confidence, the UKG students delivered a touching vote of thanks, and the young MCs seamlessly anchored the programme with poise beyond their years. Refreshments were then served to all, adding a sweet touch to the joyful gathering. Teacher Neetha Pais brought an extra spark to the event with fun-filled games that drew laughter, cheers and friendly competition among the grandparents, followed by prize distribution.

With hearts touched and spirits lifted, the celebration concluded with a beautiful reminder of the timeless bond between generations.
