Mangaluru, Jul 29: Carmel School, Kotekar commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 28 with deep patriotic fervour and solemn respect, honouring the brave hearts of the Indian Army who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil War of 1999.
The chief guest for the occasion was Lion advocate K C Narayanan, a distinguished legal professional, social worker, and dedicated member of the Lions Club. Renowned for his significant contributions to youth development and national awareness initiatives, he inspired the gathering with his message of patriotism, discipline, and civic responsibility.

The event was held in the presence of principal Sr Pramila, vice principal Sr Anitha, administrator Sr Julie Ann and coordinator Roopa.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by student comperes Bhoomika and Sathvi, who set the tone for the day by highlighting the heroic sacrifices of Indian soldiers. A solemn prayer service followed, invoking peace and divine blessings for the martyrs.
Students then presented a symbolic welcome, carrying emblems of courage, peace, and patriotism, offering them as a tribute to the heroes of Kargil while also greeting the dignitaries with respect and reverence.
A short yet informative presentation by Nirali shed light on the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas, helping the audience appreciate the valour and resilience of the Indian armed forces.
The cultural segment began with a patriotic dance performance, capturing the indomitable spirit of the Indian Army. This was followed by a powerful group song filled with emotion and pride. A moving dance-drama portraying the emotions of war the pain of separation, strength of sacrifice, and triumph of duty left a deep impression on all present. Each performance was met with heartfelt applause for its sincerity and impact.
In his keynote address, the chief guest, Lion advocate K C Narayanan, shared the story of the Kargil conflict how Pakistani troops infiltrated Indian territory and how the soldiers, under extremely adverse conditions, reclaimed the heights with unmatched bravery. He emphasized four core values discipline, determination, dedication, and devotion as the pillars of victory and encouraged students to adopt these principles to lead successful and meaningful lives. He concluded with words of encouragement and best wishes to all the students.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Vaishnavi, who expressed gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, staff, student performers, and everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
