Udupi, Jul 31: In a move aimed at transforming stress into strength, the Udupi District police joined hands with the SDM Yoga and Naturopathy Hospital, Pareeka, to host the Navachetana Wellness Camp, culminating in a vibrant valedictory ceremony at the Ammanni Ramanna Shetty Memorial Auditorium on July 30.

Delivering the keynote, district superintendent of police Hariram Shankar underlined the critical link between well-being and performance. “Policing is more than law enforcement—it's a life of constant sacrifice and emotional burden. Health is not a luxury but a necessity for us. Only a fit force can serve with peace, purpose, and pride,” he stressed, calling on officers to adopt proactive health routines.

Adding a dash of glamour and grounded wisdom, Sandalwood actor Pramod Shetty, who inaugurated the event, urged the khaki force to reclaim control of their health. “You are guardians of public safety - let wellness be your shield. Weight loss is achievable, not by punishment but with perseverance,” he said, advocating for statewide replication of such camps.

The highlight of the event was the felicitation of fitness crusaders who led the camp's sessions with energy and enthusiasm — including Zumba expert Poornima Perganna, fitness coaches Sinchana Prakash and Umesh Mattu, dance mentor Manjeet Shetty, Karate sensei Santosh Shetty, and physical fitness trainers Nagaraj Prabhu and Krishnayya Devadiga.

Participant testimonials by Jayalakshmi, Sandeep Kumar, and Vinod offered heartfelt glimpses into transformative experiences — from weight loss and renewed energy to emotional resilience.

Rohith Kumar, confidential advisor to the police department, welcomed attendees and set the tone with an impactful introductory address. The proceedings were seamlessly anchored by Yogeesh of the DAR.

The event witnessed the graceful presence of international athlete Abhin Devadiga, B Seetharam Tolpadithaya (secretary, SDM Shantivana Trust, Dharmasthala), Dr Gopal Poojary (chief medical officer, Soukhyavana, Pareeka), and additional SP Sudhakar S Nayak, all lending their support to a fitter, stronger police fraternity.

The Navachetana Camp, true to its name, ignited a new consciousness among the ranks—one that views wellness not as an afterthought but as an integral pillar of policing.
