Bantwal, Aug 2: A man who was seriously injured in a road accident near Punjalkatte has succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru. The incident occurred near the Primary Health Centre on the Kadur–BC Road National Highway in Punjalkatte on July 31.
The deceased has been identified as Janardhan Moolya (42), a resident of Attaje, Piliatabettu village, and son of the late Babu Moolya.

According to police reports, Satish, a motorbike rider, was heading towards Punjalkatte from Bantwal when he allegedly rode carelessly and failed to slow down despite seeing a cow crossing the highway. In the impact, his motorbike collided with the animal, causing both the rider and the bike to fall on the road.
As the bike skidded and veered toward the extreme right of the highway, it collided head-on with another bike coming from the Beltangady side. The second bike had two riders – Shivraj and Janardhan. Both of them were thrown off the vehicle due to the force of the collision.
Janardhan sustained severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru for treatment. However, despite all efforts, he passed away on August 1.
A case has been registered at the Punjalkatte Police Station in connection with the accident.
