Mumbai, Aug 3: A police constable was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with women passengers in the ladies' compartment of a Borivali-Vasai slow local train on Saturday afternoon while in an inebriated state.

The accused has been identified as Amol Kishore Sapkale, currently posted with the Mira Bhayander and Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate. He reportedly boarded the train at Mira Road Station in his khaki uniform.

According to fellow passengers, Sapkale pretended to check tickets while intentionally brushing against women seated nearby. He was also seen staring inappropriately at several women, causing discomfort and unease.

One of the women recorded a video of his behaviour, which showed him in uniform. The constable allegedly snatched mobile phones from those trying to document the incident. Enraged by his actions, several women forced him out of the compartment and alerted the station master.

Vasai Road Railway Police responded promptly and detained Sapkale. He has been booked for outraging the modesty of women and issuing threats, based on a complaint filed by one of the passengers.

Further investigation is underway.
