Udupi: Public felicitation ceremony for Remona Evette Pereira in Udyavara on Aug 5

Udupi, Aug 4: Remona Evette Pereira, a Bharatanatyam dancer and student of St Aloysius (Deemed to be) University, Mangaluru, who recently entered the Golden Book of World Records by performing continuously for 170 hours over seven days, will be felicitated at a public ceremony on Tuesday, August 5.

The event is being organised by the cultural organisation Niranthar Udyavara and the Lions Club Udyavara Sunshine. It will be held at 5 pm at St Francis Xavier Hall, Udyavara.

The felicitation will be graced by several dignitaries, including the bishop of Udupi diocese Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, PRO Fr Denis D'Sa, vice chancellor of St Aloysius University Fr Dr Praveen Martis, registrar Dr Ronald Nazareth, and parish priest of St Francis Xavier Church, Udyavara, Fr Anil D'Souza.

Other notable guests include Lions District 317C governor MJF Lion Sapna Suresh, Udyavara gram panchayat president Malathi Sandeep, Daijiworld founder Walter Nandalike, MCC Bank Mangaluru chairman Anil Lobo, Jason D’Souza of Mandavi Builders Udupi, Wilson Fernandes of Fernandes Group (Udupi–Mangaluru), Dr Sheikh Wahid Dawood of the World Peace Committee Bengaluru, Geethanjali Suvarna of the National Billava Mahamandala Women’s Wing, social worker Krishnamurthy Acharya, Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh president Ronald D’Almeida, Ryan Suares of Udyavarites Dubai, and ICYM Udupi deanery president Rovin Pereira.

As part of the programme, Remona will be ceremonially escorted in a procession from the church premises to the event venue.

The organisers — Steven Colaco (event coordinator), Roshan Crasto (president, Niranthar Udyavara), and Lion Gerald Pereira (president, Lions Club Udyavara Sunshine) — announced through a press release that the felicitation programme will begin promptly, and various organisations will be given the opportunity to honour Remona Evette Pereira for her extraordinary achievement.
