Kasargod, Aug 5: In view of the continued heavy rainfall and the red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Kasargod district administration has declared a holiday for all educational institutions on Wednesday, August 6.
The holiday applies to all schools and colleges across the district, including professional colleges, CBSE and ICSE schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, madrasas, anganwadis, and tuition centres. The move has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff amid the inclement weather conditions.
However, the district administration has clarified that pre-scheduled examinations and interviews will be held as planned and will not be affected by the holiday order.
The IMD has predicted continued heavy rainfall in the region for the next few days, along with the likelihood of thunderstorms and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 50 km/h along the Kerala coast. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and follow official advisories during this period of intense rainfall.
