Udupi, Aug 7: St Mary's English Medium School, Kannarpady, Udupi paid tribute to the significance of social sciences by celebrating Social Science Day with unbridled enthusiasm on August 7.

The event, held at the St Mary's Auditorium, commenced with the school assembly at 8.45 am, setting the tone for a day filled with intellectual curiosity and creative expression.

The program was graced by the presence of esteemed principal Fr Vijay Joyson D'Souza and vice principal Rita Quadros, whose guidance and leadership played a pivotal role in the success of the event.

The cultural program that followed was a testament to the students' multifaceted talents. Nidhi and Adheesh of grade 9 delivered erudite speeches on the importance of learning social sciences, shedding light on its relevance in understanding the complexities of the world. Their eloquent words were followed by a soul-stirring patriotic song that resonated through the auditorium, evoking a sense of national pride and unity.

The students of grades 6, 7, and 8 presented a poignant role-play on national leaders, bringing to life the struggles and triumphs of India's freedom fighters. The performances were marked by exceptional acting skills, meticulous costumes, and a deep understanding of historical events. Furthermore, a thought-provoking skit on the life of Anandi Bai, the trailblazing first female doctor, served as an inspiration to the young minds, highlighting the importance of perseverance and dedication.

In a gesture of appreciation, students who made significant contributions to the school museum were felicitated with awards, recognizing their efforts to preserve and promote historical knowledge. The program culminated with the National Anthem, instilling a sense of patriotism and unity among the students.

Rimsha of Grade 9 played a multifaceted role in the event, delivering a warm welcome address, proposing a vote of thanks, and anchoring the program with aplomb. The event was meticulously planned and executed by the social science teachers, who worked tirelessly under the guidance of principal Fr Vijay Joyson Dsouza and vice principal Rita Quadros.
