Bhubaneswar, Aug 8: In a shocking incident, a routine food delivery turned violent in the Odisha capital on Thursday when a delivery agent allegedly attacked a woman customer with a sharp weapon following an argument over delayed service.
The victim, identified as Binodini Rath, a nurse at a private hospital in the city, had reportedly placed a food order which arrived late. Upon arrival, the delivery agent, Tapan Das alias Mitu, was questioned by Rath about the delay. The exchange quickly escalated into a heated argument, during which the accused allegedly pulled out a sharp weapon and attacked her.

Police sources said the woman sustained grievous injuries on her neck, head, hands, and legs. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The accused was apprehended on the spot, and the weapon used in the attack was seized. Investigations revealed that the delivery agent was intoxicated at the time of the incident, confirmed by a medical examination.
Authorities have registered a case, and further investigation is underway. The incident has sparked concerns over delivery personnel background checks and customer safety.
