Canada, Aug 8: Hamilton Police have arrested and charged 32-year-old Jerdaine Foster with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of 21-year-old Indian student Harsimrat Randhawa. The incident occurred on April 17 near a bus stop at the intersection of Upper James Street and South Bend Road in Ontario’s Niagara Falls area.

Randhawa, a second-year physiotherapy student at Mohawk College, was struck by a stray bullet while waiting to cross the street after getting off a bus. She later succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.

In addition to the murder charge, Foster faces three counts of attempted murder. Police reported that at least seven people in four vehicles were involved in a dispute that escalated into a shooting, involving multiple firearms.

Acting Detective Sergeant Daryl Reid described Harsimrat as “an innocent bystander” who was simply trying to get home from a local gym when the fatal shooting occurred. No other arrests have been made yet, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Foster, who has connections to Hamilton, Halton, and Niagara regions and has been residing in short-term rentals, was previously known to law enforcement. Police are actively working to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the incident.
