Beltangady: Woman Dies in Mini Bus Accident

Beltangady, Feb 3: After a tourist mini bus tumbled on to the road at Puduvettu road bend near Dharmasthala in the taluk on Thursday February 2, a woman lost her life. 11 others suffered injuries of various degrees.

The deceased has been identified as Sunanda (45), wife of K Muniraju from Boodigere village in Devanahalli taluk, Bangalore Rural district.

The mini bus had brought pilgrims to Dharmasthala from Bangalore. The pilgrims were on their way back, when the bus tripped while negotiating a road bend, after the driver lost control over the vehicle. Passengers of the tourist bus, Bhagya Lakshmikant, Dileep Kumar, Jagadamba, Manjula, Shreeja, Sneha, Sumitra, Harish, Srinivas, Yashodar, and Mahesh, were injured. All of them were admitted into a private hospital in Ujire for treatment.

The bus driver escaped immediately after the accident. Vehicular traffic on the road was affected till the policemen cleared the road after some time. A case was registered in the local police station in this connection. Investigations have begun.
