BJP MLA’s nephew caught on camera threatening toll staff in MP

Dewas, Aug 11: A video showing Nikhil Chaudhary, nephew of BJP Hatpipliya MLA Manoj Chaudhary, brandishing a stick and hurling abuses at toll workers at Bhorasa toll plaza on the Dewas-Bhopal highway has gone viral, sparking outrage over political high-handedness in Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Bhorasa police station, where Nikhil, allegedly enraged over being asked to pay the toll, threatened to assault employees and declared that vehicles would pass free in the MLA’s name. Witnesses said he also threw traffic cones and barricades during the hour-long commotion.

Bhorasa police confirmed that toll manager Raghavendra Singh lodged a complaint, leading to a case being registered against Nikhil for abuse and criminal intimidation. “We have booked him for abusing and threatening to kill,” Town Inspector Preeti Katare said.

Toll staff alleged political pressure delayed the filing of the complaint. Nikhil, son of farmer leader Balram Chaudhary and an MBBS doctor practising in Indore, is the elder brother’s son of MLA Manoj Chaudhary.

The incident comes days after BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal warned MLAs over their children’s misconduct, following recent controversies involving relatives of other party legislators.
