Udupi, Aug 12: Abaran Timeless Jewellery hosted a two-day exhibition and sale of its finest gold and diamond jewellery under the theme ‘Back to Roots on Tuesday, August 12 at Hotel Ocean Pearl Times Square, Kalsanka, Udupi. The exhibition is open to public on August 12 and 13, from 11 am to 7 pm.

The exhibition was inaugurated by actress Sudha Rani on Tuesday, August 12 by cutting the ribbon. Speaking later, she praised the company’s legacy.

She said, “Returning to our roots is significant. When the roots are strong, everything else falls into place. Nowadays, people focus on success but forget that peace comes from a good personal life and strong family bonds. I was touched to see an employee who has been with the company since Prathap’s father’s time. Achieving something on our own is commendable, but carrying forward the path of our ancestors is the greatest challenge — and Prathap, along with his father and Samyuktha, has done that. May the Abaran family continue to grow and achieve great success. I always enjoy coming to Udupi, where many of my films were shot.”

Hariram Shankar, superintendent of police, Udupi, lauded Abaran’s expansion plans and stated, “Abaran is hosting a two-day exhibition, and I’m happy to be part of it. I’ve learned that they are opening a showroom in Udupi, and I wish it great success. The Udupi police are committed to supporting commercial activities by providing assistance and security. I hope to see Udupi grow into a major city.”

Former MLA Raghupathi Bhat said, “I hope this exhibition offers high-quality products to the people of Udupi. We see this as a prelude to the opening of a showroom here. Udupi residents have always appreciated renowned jewellery brands, and Abaran is no exception. I wish the upcoming showroom great success.”

Ajay Purshotham Shetty of Ujwal Developers appreciated the theme and the company’s heritage: When I received the invitation for the Abaran exhibition, two things caught my attention — the portrait of Udupi Sri Krishna and the words ‘Back to Roots.’ Abaran is known for its timeless creations. I pray to Sri Krishna that all their aspirations are fulfilled, and I wish Abaran the very best.”

Dr Prathap Madhukar Kamath, managing director, Abaran Timeless Jewellery Private Limited, welcomed the gathering and said, “I always wanted to bring Abaran from Bengaluru to Udupi, and this year we are beginning construction of our showroom here. I joined the business in 2000, and this year marks my 25th year in the jewellery trade — the only field where I have invested all my time, effort, and energy. With the support of our elders and customers, Abaran has reached where it is today. My daughter Samyuktha will be the fourth-generation custodian of the brand, and we are proud to do this in our 90th anniversary year. Through this exhibition, we wanted to showcase our speciality to the people of Coastal Karnataka, with a focus on design. In just 24 hours, we created this showroom space to present jewellery in a new way to the people of Karavali.”

Dignitaries lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the occasion. Traditional, innovative, and timeless jewellery collections were displayed at the exhibition and sale.

The brand, under the visionary leadership of Dr Prathap Madhukar Kamath, has built a legacy rooted in heritage, integrity, and trust across generations. It began in 1935, when the Neo Jewellery Mart was established in the temple town of Udupi. In 1979, Madhukar S Kamath rebranded it as Abharan. The first Bengaluru branch opened in Rajajinagar, followed by a second showroom on M G Road in 1985.

Even after nine decades, the brand continues to thrive, earning the loyalty of generations of customers. Today, it operates three heritage showrooms, along with an exclusive Rolex outlet at the Taj West End Hotel, blending the precision of Rolex craftsmanship with the elegance and heritage of the Taj.

Samyuktha Prathap Kamath, director, delivered the vote of thanks.

Also present were director Preethi Prathap Kamath, family members Bola Prabhakar Kamath, M Krishna Nayak, Shridar Kamath, Bola Sahalini Kamath, Damodar Kamath, businessman Mahesh Takur, and others.
