Mangaluru, Aug 13: Expert Pre-University College, Valachil, observed National Library Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr S R Ranganathan, the father of Library Science in India.
Dr N K Vijayan Karppal, principal, praised Dr Ranganathan's work on the colon classification system, which remains relevant in the digital age. He commended the library staff for organizing the event.
Subramanya Udupa, vice principal (academics), emphasized the importance of books and reading habits, expressing concern over the decline in reading habits due to excessive mobile phone use.
Gurudath N, coaching head, highlighted the library's significance for students pursuing competitive exams. Yuvaraj briefed the gathering on Dr Ranganathan's achievements in library science.
