Mangaluru: Kalothsava 2025 inaugurated at St Aloysius University

Mangaluru, Aug 14: The student engagement cell of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) organised ‘Kalothsava 2025’ on August 13 at Fr L F Rasquinha Hall, LCRI Block.

Thanvi Rao, actress and proud Alumna, was the chief guest. Vidushi Vidyashree Radhakrishna, founder of Gana Nritya Academy was the guest of honour. Dr Praveen Martis SJ, VC of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) presided over the programme. Dr Melwyn Dcunha, SJ, pro VC of the University, Dr Alwyn D’Sa, registrar of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar of the University, Naveen Mascarenhas, chair of student engagement cell (external), Sahana Devadiga, convenor of the programme, Shravani Bhat, cultural secretary and Anson Rego, president of student council were on the dais.

Through her words, Thanvi Rao encouraged students to participate in art activities and made them understand the difference between entertainment and art. Besides this, she told the students to develop a consciousness about art and culture.

Vidushi Vidyashree Radhakrishna in her words expressed the beauty of art forms. She told the students to be original, empathetic and humble in their doings. She urged the students to take the legacy of art and culture to the next generation.

Dr Praveen Martis SJ in his speech said that St Aloysius College is giving a lot of encouragement to its students to nurture their talents. He urged the students to take advantage of it.

The chair of student engagement cell, Naveen Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering and briefed the audience on Kalotsava 2025. He said that the purpose of this programme is to identity the students’ talents and nurture them by the experts from the respective field. St Aloysius has a number of talented students in different areas like drama, skit, singing, dancing, acting, quiz, etc. and the institution is highly supportive giving opportunities to the students to showcase their talents both inside and outside the campus.

Directors of various blocks of the college, deans, chairs and the faculty members were present during the programme.

Renisha Pinto compered the programme. Anson Rego and Sharvani Bhat introduced the guests. The programme coordinator Sahana Devadiga proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme ended with a colourful cultural programme by the students of the university.
