Chandigarh, Aug 14: Punjab Police have successfully thwarted a major terror plot linked to Pakistan's ISI, arresting two operatives of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced on Thursday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Harpreet Singh alias Preet, from Bhullar village in Tarn Taran, and Gulshan Singh alias Nandu, from Rampura village in Amritsar. Police recovered two 86P hand grenades, one 9MM pistol, and five live cartridges from their possession.
The arrests come just days after Punjab Police busted another BKI module in Rajasthan, apprehending five individuals — including three juveniles — and seizing weapons and explosives, including a similar grenade.

DGP Yadav stated that initial investigations point to the accused working under the command of foreign-based handlers in the UK, US, and Europe. He added that the duo was planning to attack government buildings and police establishments in Punjab using grenades, with the intent to disrupt peace ahead of Independence Day.
Assistant Inspector General (Ferozepur) Gursewak Singh Brar revealed that the arrests followed a targeted operation by the Counter Intelligence Unit, based on human intelligence inputs. The two suspects were apprehended in Talwandi Bhai, Ferozepur.
The accused are now in police custody, and further interrogation is expected to uncover more about their international links, co-conspirators, and planned targets.
A case has been registered under Section 25 of the Arms Act and Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act at Fazilka Police Station. Investigations are ongoing.
