Udupi, Aug 14: In the interest of public safety, the work undertaken by the Udupi district police to install CCTV cameras in Udupi city, rural areas, and border regions is truly commendable, said Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Minister for Women and Child Development and Udupi district in-charge minister.

She was speaking after inaugurating the Shyena Drishti (CCTV surveillance) control centre at the Udupi service bus stand, launched in collaboration with the Udupi Chamber of Commerce. The minister said the CCTV installation would help prevent untoward incidents in the district.

The project, costing between Rs 2.5 crore and Rs 3 crore, has been fully funded by the Udupi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. “On behalf of the district administration and the government, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Chamber of Commerce,” she said.

But our party functions under a high command, and we are bound by its decisions. Whatever the high command decides will be final.”

Now, the June payment has been credited, and the July payment will be deposited into beneficiaries’ accounts in the next few days. We aim to release the July payment before Ganesh Chaturthi.”
