MCC Bank celebrates 79th Independence Day with pride and patriotism

Mangaluru, Aug 15: The 79th Independence Day was marked with grandeur and patriotic fervour at the administrative office of MCC Bank Ltd, on August 15, uniting staff, dignitaries, and well-wishers in a vibrant celebration of India’s freedom.

Chairman Sahakara Ratna Anil Lobo presided over the ceremony. Esteemed personalities, including Padhmaraj R Poojary, advocate, notary public, treasurer of Kudroli Temple Trust, and social worker, along with A C Vinayaraj, renowned advocate and corporator of Court Yard, graced the occasion as chief guests. Former vice chairman Prof Edmund Frank and former professional director Michael D’Souza were the guests of honour.

The highlight of the morning was the hoisting of the national flag by chief guest Padhmaraj R Poojary. As the tricolour unfurled, the gathering stood in solemn respect, singing the National Anthem in unison, filling the atmosphere with pride and unity.

Chairman of MCC bank Sahakara Ratna Anil Lobo extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries and guests at the MCC Bank Independence Day celebration and highlighted the importance of celebrating Independence Day within the bank.

In his address, Padhmaraj reflected on the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and urged citizens to uphold constitutional values while embracing India’s ‘Unity in Diversity.’ He also expressed pride in MCC Bank’s steady progress.

A C Vinayaraj, in his speech, reminded the audience of the true essence of Independence, highlighting Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of non-violence and its role in nation-building.

The celebration also recognised community service and professional excellence. Mangaluru City’s dedicated Traffic Wardens Francis Maxim Moras, Sunil John D’Souza, Jayanthi, and Marcel John Rodrigues were felicitated for their selfless contribution in managing city traffic.

Professional director Sushanth Saldanha was honoured for being elected as president of the Mangalore Diocese Konkani Catholic Lawyers’ Guild, while director Roshan D’Souza was recognised for his distinguished service as an advocate completing 25 years.

The event commenced with a prayer song led by Alwyn D’Souza and team. Patriotic songs added a musical touch, lifting the spirits of the gathering.

Vice chairman Jerald Jude D’Silva, directors, Anil Patrao, Roshan D’Souza, Irene Rebello, David D’Souza, Herald Monteiro, Dr Gerald Pinto, Melwin Vas, Elroy Crasta, C G Pinto, Sushanth Saldanha, Felix Dcruz, Sharmila Menezes, Alwyn P Monteiro and staff of MCC Bank were present.

The programme was compered by Jaison Shirthady, with the vote of thanks delivered by the general manager Sunil Menezes.

The event served not only as a tribute to the nation’s freedom but also as a reaffirmation of MCC Bank’s commitment to the community and the values that shape our nation.
