Mangaluru, Aug 15: A well-known fruit trader from Taudugoli near Narigana died of a heart attack while on a pilgrimage to the Ajmer Dargah, in a tragic incident that occurred on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Shekhabdulla (60), a resident of Taudugoli, located at the Narigana–Varkady border, and a long-time lime fruit trader at Kallapu Global Market in Mangaluru.

According to sources, Shekhabdulla had left for Ajmer along with a group of friends from Mangaluru three days ago. On Friday, shortly after completing darshan at the Dargah, he complained of chest pain. He collapsed before medical help could reach, and passed away en route to hospital.

Shekhabdulla had been active in the fruit trade for over four decades, and was known to undertake an annual pilgrimage to Ajmer. Notably, he had suffered a heart attack during a visit to Ajmer two years ago but had survived after being promptly admitted to a local hospital and later transferred to Mangaluru for recovery.

His family had already faced loss—his wife passed away two years ago. Though deeply affected by her death, Shekhabdulla had remained emotionally resilient, continuing to engage in religious and social activities. Friends described him as someone who “never showed his grief but channelled it into faith and service.”

His mortal remains were sent by ambulance from Ajmer on Friday afternoon, and are expected to reach his residence in Taudugoli by midnight on Saturday. The final rites will be conducted at the Taudugoli mosque burial ground.

Shekhabdulla is survived by two sons and a daughter.
