Rahul slams PM’s Rs 1 lac cr job scheme, calls it ‘Rhetoric season 2’

New Delhi, Aug 16: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the announcement of the Rs 1 lac cr PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, accusing him of repeating “the same old rhetoric with rehearsed figures.”

“Rs 1 lac cr rhetoric – Season 2! Even after 11 years, Modi ji’s same old rhetoric, same rehearsed figures. Last year, a promise of 1 cr internships from Rs 1 lac cr – this year, again a Rs 1 lac cr job scheme! What’s the truth? In response to my question in Parliament, the government admitted – less than 10,000 internships. The stipend so low that 90% of youth refused it. Modi ji has no new ideas left. From this government, the youth will get not jobs, but only rhetoric,” Rahul wrote on X, attaching the government’s response to his query on the PM Internship Scheme.

Earlier, addressing the nation from the Red Fort on Independence Day, PM Modi announced the launch of the PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana. Under the scheme, newly employed youth will receive Rs 15,000, while companies generating new jobs will get incentives.

“Opportunities are being created for our youth in new sectors. Today, on August 15, we are launching and implementing a scheme worth Rs 1 lac cr for the youth of my country,” Modi said, adding that the scheme would create employment for about 3.5 cr young people.

The Prime Minister congratulated the youth, calling it 'good news' on Independence Day.
