Mangaluru, Aug 16: Kallza Umalle 2.0, a grand Konkani musical extravaganza, lit up the stage at the St Agnes Centenary Auditorium, Bendur, delivering a spellbinding evening of music, dance, and cultural celebration.

Organised with perfection and flair by the dynamic compere and event maestro Floyd D’Mello Cascia, the concert drew a packed audience and earned critical acclaim for its vibrant execution and artistic finesse.

The evening commenced on a spiritual note as Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangalore diocese, invoked divine blessings, setting a solemn yet uplifting tone.

Several esteemed dignitaries graced the event, including Leo and Lavina Rodrigues, NRI entrepreneurs; Gilbert D'Souza MDVK; Silvia D'Silva MDVK; James Mendonca, former president of Mangalore Konkans Dubai; Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld Media Pvt Ltd; Fr Eric Crasta, parish priest, Cascia; Anil Lobo, chairman, MCC Bank; Linet Castelino, retired police officer; Jerry Bondel, singer; Roy Castelino, PRO, Mangalore diocese; Santhosh Sequeira, MD, Santhosh Arrangers; and Denis D’Silva, president, Congress Publicity Committee, DK.

Speaking on behalf of the sponsors and guests, Walter Nandalike remarked, “In today’s time, it is rare to see Gen Z actively participating in events rooted in language, culture, and literature. Floyd D’Mello has remarkably managed to draw in a large audience because of his unwavering passion for Konkani. He continues to create platforms for local talent, and this effort must be both recognised and sustained.”

The concert showcased a stellar line-up of celebrated Konkani singing sensations: Robin Sequeira, Rynel Sequeira, Joshal D’Souza, Jason Lobo, Sonal Monteiro, Rolston Pinto, and rising star Jiya Mendonca. Their soul-stirring performances were masterfully complemented by top-tier musical arrangements from Rajesh Moily, Rajendra Bably, Ralph Roshen, Vijay Noronha, and Prajwal Fronteiro—a team that delivered an immersive and high-quality soundscape throughout the evening.

Dynamic performances by dancers from Urban Groove Dance Academy added vibrant visuals to the sonic spectacle. A highlight of the night was a stunning solo by Pearl Aranha, the winner of the popular dance competition Naach Nara Naach Nari Pro, who captivated the audience with her electrifying moves.

Renowned DJ Anil kept the tempo high, spinning energetic tracks that kept the audience grooving well into the night. Joystar Band Katipalla contributed to making the event a true festival of language and culture.

Kallza Umalle 2.0 was subtitled by Sparsh Sangeeth Swarancho. Joshal D’Souza performed a special song dedicated to Frenil Sylvester D'Mello, son of Floyd D'Mello. Cletus Lobo Urwa and Neilesh Rasquinha evoked waves of laughter with their short comedy skits.

The evening was emceed seamlessly by Preetham Noronha, while Floyd D’Mello Cascia himself took charge during the main concert, keeping the crowd engaged with his signature charisma. Dalia Crasta graciously honoured all the guests and artistes with mementos, and the formal vote of thanks was delivered by well-known compere and organiser Manu Bantwal.

Kallza Umalle 2.0 was not just a concert — it was a cultural revival, a celebration of Konkani talent, and a reminder of the power of music to unite communities. With flawless organisation, high-octane performances, and heartfelt moments, the event reaffirmed its status as a marquee cultural celebration in the coastal city.
