Mumbai: Konkani Book ‘Avaichi Asha’ Released in Metro

Mumbai, Feb 4: ‘Avaichi Asha’, a Konkani story book authored by Leo Fernandes, social activist and Konkani enthusiast, was released in a simple function held at St Jude parish hall, Jerimeri, Sakinaka, Andheri (East), recently.

Konkani playwright and social activist Francis Fernandes Cascia was the chief guest who released the book on the occasion.

St Jude parish priest Fr Nelson Saldanha, Lawrence Coelho, editor, ‘Divo’, Konkani illustrated weekly, T 3 Urban Developers Limited managing director V P Lobo, Maharastra Konkan Association president Walter D’Souza Kalmady, and former president Benedicta B Rebello were the guests of honour.

Fr Nelson Saldanha felicitated Ron Michael, member, Maharastra Konkan Association, a social activist who has retired from service to settle down in his native place.

The music group of Levin L Fernandes, Simran V Lobo, and Sohan V Lobo staged a musical concert as part of the entertainment programme.

Benedicta Rebello welcomed the gathering.  The Association western unit president Cyril Castelino compered the programme.
