Khairagarh, Aug 17: A shocking murder plot was foiled in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district after police arrested a 20-year-old electrician, Vinay Verma, who allegedly planted an IED inside a music system speaker and sent it as a gift to the husband of a woman he was infatuated with.

The improvised device, designed to detonate upon being plugged in, was discovered after the intended victim, Afsar Khan, reported a suspicious parcel at his shop. Police investigations revealed Verma had assembled the explosive using online tutorials and siphoned gelatin sticks from a quarry in Durg.

Six others, including suppliers of the explosives and a man who forged a fake India Post logo for the parcel, have also been arrested. SP Lakshya Sharma said the case not only prevented a potential murder but also exposed a wider explosive smuggling racket in the region.

Further investigations are underway, and strict legal action will be taken against all involved.
