Senior journalist Haryadi Manjunath Bhat passes away at 72

Udupi, Aug 17: Veteran journalist Haryadi Manjunath Bhat (72) passed away in Bengaluru after a brief illness.

Born in 1953 in Haryadi, Brahmavar taluk, Bhat graduated from Udupi Poorna Prajna College. He initially worked as a high school teacher before stepping into journalism in 1977 with Navabharat in Mangaluru. Over the years, he contributed to leading publications such as Mungaru, Kannada Jana Antharanga, and Udayavani in various capacities, including as reporter and sub-editor.

After retirement, Bhat settled in Bengaluru and was actively involved in the editorial division of Utthana magazine and Rashtrotthana Sahitya. He translated several English works into Kannada and edited notable biographies. He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
