Udupi, Aug 18: Christ School celebrated the 79th Independence Day with immense pride and patriotic fervour through a series of events held on August 14 and 15.
The eve of Independence Day was marked with a vibrant cultural programme on August 14 graced by the chief guests, Chetan Negi, along with correspondent Fr Romeo Lewis and Principal Eliza Vaz. The performances included a patriotic dance drama by class 9 depicting the pre- and during-Independence era, honouring the sacrifices of freedom fighters, as well as a graceful welcome dance by class 5 students.














These performances beautifully portrayed India’s unity in diversity and deepened the audience’s appreciation of the struggles that won our freedom. The chief guest and correspondent addressed the gathering with messages of inspiration and national pride. The event was hosted by MCs Shailesh Nayak and Aron Fernandes, with the vote of thanks delivered by Glen Mario Lobo.
The main celebration took place on August 15, with the chief guests, Martin Aranha and Philominan Aranha, accompanied by correspondent Fr Romeo Lewis, principal Eliza Vaz, and members of the School Managing Committee. The programme, anchored by Yahvi Talwar, commenced with Vande Mataram, followed by a warm welcome address from principal Eliza Vaz. The National Flag was hoisted with great reverence, accompanied by the singing of the National Anthem.
This was followed by the felicitation of the chief guests and an inspiring speech by Martin Aranha, encouraging students to uphold the values of freedom, unity, and responsibility. The event also featured patriotic songs, a mass drill, the release of the School Magazine for 2024–25, and a lively patriotic dance by class 5 students. The celebration concluded with the vote of thanks by Nishan and the distribution of sweets, leaving the campus resonating with the spirit of patriotism and joy.
