Intensive ticket checking drives on Konkan Railway yield over Rs 2.37 crore in fines

Udupi, Aug 18: Konkan Railway has intensified its ticket checking operations to curb ticketless travel and ensure smooth journeys for genuine passengers.

According to an official press release, 3,765 ticket checking drives have been conducted since the start of the financial year 2025–26.

During these operations, officials detected and penalised 40,602 cases of unauthorised or irregular travel, collecting fines amounting to Rs 2,37,11,161. Authorities said the initiative is part of efforts to maintain discipline and provide a safe, hassle-free travel experience for valid ticket holders.

With the Ganapati festival approaching, passenger traffic on the Konkan Railway route is expected to rise sharply. The railway has appealed to all commuters to travel with valid tickets to avoid inconvenience.
