Former MLA Raghupati Bhat defends Dharmasthala, calls allegations a systematic conspiracy

Udupi, Aug 20: Former MLA Raghupati Bhat has strongly defended Dharmasthala, terming the recent controversy as a ‘systematic conspiracy’ that, according to him, even a common man can understand.

Addressing the media, Raghupati Bhat said that with the constitution of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the ongoing probe, doubts surrounding the issue will be cleared. “Dakshina Kannada SP had first requested a brain mapping of the unidentified man. If that had been permitted, the entire process would have been unnecessary. I am confident that the SIT will give a proper answer to those spreading fake information about such a big religious institution,” he stated.

Highlighting the contributions of Dharmasthala, Raghupati Bhat pointed out that while there are many temples in south India with greater income, Dharmasthala uniquely channels its resources for social welfare. “They have financially supported small temples and institutions. The Dharmasthala Stree Shakthi initiative has brought visible social and economic changes in the lives of women in this region,” he said.

He further stressed that since people from all sections of society have benefited from the institution’s initiatives, it is the responsibility of every individual to stand in support of Dharmasthala. Announcing their next move, he said, “We will stage a fierce protest in Udupi district, standing firmly with Dharmasthala and opposing this issue.”
