Andhra Pradesh, Aug 21: Tension prevailed in the Nekkanti Range of Dornala Mandal, Nandyal district, after Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Budda Rajasekhar Reddy and his supporters allegedly attacked forest department personnel on Tuesday night.

According to reports, the incident occurred near Srisailam Shikhara, where forest officials Ramanayak, Guravaiah, Mohan Kumar, and Kareemulla were discharging their duties. The officials reportedly faced physical assault from the MLA’s men.

The Andhra Pradesh Junior Forest Officers Association strongly condemned the attack, demanding that a case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act be filed against the legislator.

Reacting to the incident, Deputy Chief Minister and Forest Minister Pawan Kalyan took a stern stance, announcing that he had ordered a detailed probe into the matter. “No one, whether Prime Minister or Chief Minister, is above the law. Strict action will be taken against anyone who obstructs the duties of government employees,” he asserted.

Pawan Kalyan further stated that he had directed officials to file cases strictly as per law. Referring to the recently introduced Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill, 2025, in the Lok Sabha, he stressed accountability of public representatives.

“The coalition government led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will not spare anyone, regardless of their status, if they attempt to misuse power,” he cautioned.

The assault has sparked outrage among forest employees across the state. Several unions have warned of statewide protests if immediate and stringent action is not initiated against the accused.
