Mangaluru, Aug 21: The government has made it mandatory to link mobile numbers with vehicle registration certificates (RC), driving licences, and Aadhaar cards.

This initiative aims to ensure that all information related to traffic violation notices, e-challans, vehicle registration, renewal, driving licence renewal, and vehicle sales is easily accessible through technology.

According to official sources, messages are being sent to the public through the ‘Parivahan’ portal. Holders of driving licences are being instructed to update or link their mobile numbers with their licences through Aadhaar verification.

The ministry of road transport and highways has advised vehicle owners and driving licence holders to link or update their mobile numbers at the earliest. Along with linking, Aadhaar authentication has also been made compulsory for availing transport-related services. The ministry has stressed that linking mobile numbers is essential for receiving timely updates and services.

Citizens must visit the government’s official Parivahan and Sarathi portals to register or update their mobile numbers. This ensures a complete, accurate, and updated process, which needs to be verified before availing services, stated Mangaluru Regional Transport officer Sridhar Mallad.

Steps to link mobile number:

• Visit: parivahan.gov.in
• Select "Update Mobile Number" via Aadhaar
• Enter vehicle registration number and chassis/engine number
• Verify using Aadhaar OTP
